Feeling like something is missing from your child’s education? BoomLab provides unique STEAM workshops for schools that expose young children to the vast and fascinating world of science, technology, education, arts and mathematics. From the weird to the wonderful to downright genius, with BoomLab, kids not only have fun while learning; they become independent, critical thinkers and trailblazers!
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It’s a revolutionary approach to introducing these subjects to scholars in a practical way beyond the textbook to prepare them for careers in these advancing fields. As job roles are changing, educators have noticed a need for more soft skills and holistic capabilities such as teamwork and creative thinking, which is why the arts was added to the mix, leading to STEAM education – science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.
BoomLab incorporates STEAM into STEM activities to motivate our young participants to apply a range of modern creative skills, from new media, design, writing and more. This leads to well-rounded individuals who will one day be able to confidently secure STEM jobs in our ever-changing, digitally evolving world. Our workshops are hands-on and led by education experts to rejuvenate the senses and get young minds excited about how the world works and how to innovate their own solutions using science, maths and tech in a fun way.
Our STEAM workshops are offered as part of school holiday programs and extracurricular activities and open up a kaleidoscope of learning opportunities for children of all ages. We offer the following at schools and education centres in Sydney:

Our educational methodologies draw on principles from engineering, behavioural science and psychology, refined through more than 1,500 in-person lessons delivered across diverse age groups, learning environments and cultures.
We apply these principles through practical models that help us understand how people learn, what motivates them and how experiences shape behaviour.
We explore four interconnected elements of motivation:
Environment: Understanding how the things around us influence engagement.
Surprise: Using curiosity and unexpected experiences to create an emotional spark.
Predictability: Building familiarity, recognition and meaningful connections.
Reward: Creating positive reinforcement and the desire to try again.

We also explore the relationship between experience, understanding and behaviour:
Functions: Understanding how things work and how they change.
Decisions: Recognising the positive and negative consequences of our choices.
Confidence: Building stability through familiarity and understanding.
Ownership: How personal history and experience shape our perspective.
